07/28/13 - Kennebunkport, ME

We got up early to drive to Kennebunkport to visit the famous town which has a reputation as a summer haven for the upper class and is one of the wealthiest communities in the state of Maine. The most famous resident is George H. W. Bush.  Bush's home was first built by Bush’s maternal grandfather George Herbert Walker.  It has been a family home ever since, and has been owned by Bush since shortly before becoming Vice President in the 1980s.The Bush compound is on Walkers Point, called Point Vesuvius prior to the Walker family’s acquisition.  



The Kennebunkport town center, the area in and around Dock Square, is located along the Kennebunk River.  It is neighbor of Kennebunk town with Kennebunk River in the middle dividing these two towns.  After visiting Walker’s Point to view Bush’s home, we took a short walk in the Dock Square, then we started our journey back to Boston to fly back to Houston.




The best part of the whole trip was seeing our lovely granddaughter Talia holding the welcome home sign at Houston Airport.  It was the perfect finish touch to our trip.

    Cool, so the first two pictures are of Bush's home?

      The first on was taking from the only location you can parking for view their house in distance. The second one was using telephoto lenses for a zoomed shot of their house.

    Talia wants to know where is the picture of her holding the "yeh yeh nai nai" sign at the airport. ;)

      Sorry, we need to add it to this blog. It was the best finish touch of our trip with seeing the welcome home sign held by Talia.
